This time will be used to get to know you and find out if we might work well together. I will ask you questions about what is bringing you to therapy and get details about your background. I also encourage you to ask me any questions you may have in order to see if you feel comfortable moving forward. If after speaking, either one of us finds that it would not be a good fit, I will offer resources to assist with finding another therapist who can work with your particular issue.
The first session is really an extension of the consultation, except that I will get as much information about you and your background in order to guide treatment. During this time, I will continue to get to know you and assess how we are working together, and I encourage you to do the same. Sometimes it takes a session or two to figure out whether it is a good fit or not. As with the consultation, I will offer resources to help you find what you are looking for if this is the case.
Fees & Logisitics
In between your phone consultation and first session you will be asked to complete paperwork including things like office policies, privacy and confidentiality and emergency contact. We will also discuss fees and payment methods upfront to ensure a mutually agreed upon rate so that there no surprises.
